Effloresence or Snow (in Houston) ???

I took this picture at a building that used to be retail space in Houston near the Galleria shopping center. It is one of the best specimens of Efflorescence that I have ever seen.  It is powdery and almost looks like snow . . .

It looks like someone dropped it on the ground, the whole space was around 80,000 square feet and it was almost all covered with this.

There are plenty of places to learn about Efflorescence on the web.  What I want people to know is that there is a simple solution for this type of problem and it is a relatively low cost one at that.

On existing concrete like this, there are a number of reasons why this problem can occur . . . if the surface is not compromised with cracks, you may be able to solve this problem with a high performance, penetrating sealer.

I have been a sealer connoisseur for ten years and it never ceases to amaze and annoy me how many low quality products people buy all the time.  Here’s a little secret: the best technologies are for the most part, if not always, NOT found on the shelf at your local retail store.  They might be the cheapest and most readily available, but they are not the best performing and many times cost MORE in the long run.  You would be surprised what you can avail yourself to with just a little digging.  This is especially true when it comes to high performance “GREEN” technologies . . . there are products now that are near the same if not better priced than their competition and they actually OUTPERFORM them too!!!

In my future articles, I’ll be writing about some of the interesting products that we have discovered and are blessed to be able to distribute.  If you have any kind of concrete problems or questions, shoot me an e-mail at info [at] greengotech dot com . . . sorry to have to spell it out but trying to keep the spammers as far away as possible.  We have access to experts and information and experience that you can benefit from for free, so drop me an e-mail.

Thanks,

Kirk
