We are proud to sell and install V-Seal Concrete Sealers . . . V-Seal was our first product line when we started our business back in 2001. I first heard about them from another contractor. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about them as I was very distrusting of, and uncomfortable with, harsh chemicals and products that simply did not perform.

When I found V-Seal, I was so excited because I found something that actually worked well, really well . . . AND it was water based and environmentally friendly . . . and it was priced afford-ably. Now that everyone is trying to go green, it seems everyone is trying to accomplish what V-Seal did nearly 30 years ago.

You won’t find us on their website anymore since their recent site change, but you can still call us for V-Seal products in the Greater Houston Area.

V-Seal is easy to use for DIY’ers and contractors alike, you don’t need any special equipment – you can use your average garden sprayer to put it down.

V-Seal penetrates and fuses with the actual elements in your concrete so it’s not “sitting” on or in your concrete, it actually becomes part of it. Here’s how they describe it, “V-SEAL Concrete Sealer will wear away only when the substrate itself wears away to the lowest penetration of the sealer” (www.vseal.com) In fact, it used to be called the 20 year concrete sealer although I don’t think they use that moniker anymore. All in all, it truly is a powerful option for many different applicati0ns.

Call or e-mail today for a quote . . . we install our products but we also supply and train DIY’ers and contractors as well.

I took this picture at a building that used to be retail space in Houston near the Galleria shopping center. It is one of the best specimens of Efflorescence that I have ever seen. It is powdery and almost looks like snow . . .

It looks like someone dropped it on the ground, the whole space was around 80,000 square feet and it was almost all covered with this.

There are plenty of places to learn about Efflorescence on the web. What I want people to know is that there is a simple solution for this type of problem and it is a relatively low cost one at that.

On existing concrete like this, there are a number of reasons why this problem can occur . . . if the surface is not compromised with cracks, you may be able to solve this problem with a high performance, penetrating sealer.

I have been a sealer connoisseur for ten years and it never ceases to amaze and annoy me how many low quality products people buy all the time. Here’s a little secret: the best technologies are for the most part, if not always, NOT found on the shelf at your local retail store. They might be the cheapest and most readily available, but they are not the best performing and many times cost MORE in the long run. You would be surprised what you can avail yourself to with just a little digging. This is especially true when it comes to high performance “GREEN” technologies . . . there are products now that are near the same if not better priced than their competition and they actually OUTPERFORM them too!!!

In my future articles, I’ll be writing about some of the interesting products that we have discovered and are blessed to be able to distribute. If you have any kind of concrete problems or questions, shoot me an e-mail at info [at] greengotech dot com . . . sorry to have to spell it out but trying to keep the spammers as far away as possible. We have access to experts and information and experience that you can benefit from for free, so drop me an e-mail.

Thanks,

Kirk

When you have a PhD you already know most, if not all, there is to know about your profession right?

Not if your PhD stands for Post Hole Digger . . . which is what most contractors are addicted to doing. They aren’t bad people, they just don’t know that there is a better way. They are actually victims of effective marketing and large corporations that force their wares upon the public through big box retailers.

They think that just because they saw a cheap piece of junk at the hardware store that claimed to be a substitute for a centuries old practice that they know all there is to know.

That was what one contractor was heckling me with on a job site last summer. He was from up North and he had seen it all. He told me my products had been around for years and that they were just cheap substitutions that weren’t worth his time.

That was until I started slamming one into an old wood post still anchored in the surrounding concrete patio with my 85 lb jackhammer . . . and when I finished, there were no cracks, splits, chips in the pea gravel overlay.

I won’t repeat the dumbfounded expletives that began to proceed from his mouth. Needless to say he ate his words.

Oz-Post is a superior, cost effective solution that overshadows the supposed “competition” post anchors that are out there. It displaces subjective and inconsistent installation methods. It out performs the out dated hole digging, concrete pouring ceremonies that so many “professionals” still adhere to. It eliminates the most common threats to wood post integrity by protecting posts from prolonged exposure to subsurface moisture and physical damage from lawn maintenance equipment.

So ask your contractor where he got his PhD, make sure he’s not just a Post Hole Digger in disguise.

Will your opinion of their “expert advice” change when a storm blows through and a 16″ hole just wasn’t what you really needed?

What if they tell you that their standard depth is 24″? How will you know if they make the grade every time? How will you know if they only make it to 18″ sometimes?

Are you going to tear down the fence / sign just to verify?

If the post leans or falls over in the future, how much time and effort are you going waste trying to find the scoundrel, err I mean professional, who installed your project?

Eliminate the unknowns. Insist on Oz-Post.

Beware of installers and contractors who dig holes for fences, signs and decks. Digging a hole is a subjective task . . . one contractor thinks a 16″ hole works just as good as a 36″ one . . . another thinks that 1/3 of a bag of concrete fluffed up around the top of a post is the same as three full bags of concrete in a properly dug hole . . . I mean after all, do you have any way of ensuring that they are doing what they should?

Did they put it in writing how deep they were going to dig? Did they tell you how they quantitatively ensure that their installations are worthy of your money? Are you going to be on site while they do the work or are you going to dig up some of the posts after they leave to check?

Some contractors have open minds and good work ethics, many however just want to get the job done so they can get paid. I find fences and signs that are leaning or fallen over all the time . . . the reason? Rotten and / or poorly installed posts.

What’s the solution?

Oz-Post Post Anchors from www.Oz-Post.com

With Oz-Post, the contractor doesn’t get to guess how deep is deep enough. They don’t get to cut corners with minimal amounts of concrete because they know you won’t dig it up to check their work.

With Oz-Post, when you see the metal on top, you know EXACTLY what is beneath the surface and how deep it goes. With Oz-Post, your posts are protected from damage done by landscape management equipment, i.e. weed-whackers. With Oz-Post, your wood posts are NOT sitting in moisture and softening up so they can rot out and deteriorate.

Unfortunately, Oz-Post is like many other new technologies . . . the main benefactor of the invention is usually not the installer but the end user. The installer has been doing things the same old way that his grandfather did them and even though the new products may save him time and energy (and oftentimes money) and be a better value to you, he isn’t going to change unless you the customer require him to.

So beware of contracting work out to people who only know and want to do what they have always done. You can only expect what you inspect. If you aren’t going to be on site to measure each hole and concrete application, then you need to find a contractor that will use the Oz-Post . . . there are lots of old-school workers out there that are addicted to digging holes and pouring concrete. A 12 inch hole is still a hole and it can look just like a 36 inch hole when you see it from the top with a little concrete on top like icing on a cake.

A homeowner in the Sugar Land / Missouri City area, recently hired me to replace this gate to his backyard. His dogs had ravaged the bottom half of the gate as you can see. I forgot to take a picture of the backside before I took it down, but it had boards bolted up and chicken wire for reinforcement / protection of the wood.

I replaced this gate with one of my handmade, GreenGo Gates . . . I was able to reuse his hardware (saving him some money) and with just two trim cuts, the gate fit perfectly into place . . .

Here’s the backside of the gate . . . at the bottom, you’ll notice a piece of 4″ wide steel bolted to an additional 3/4″ picket piece . . . I don’t think his dogs will be doing much damage to the bottom of this gate any time soon.

If you need your gate replaced, why not replace it with a high quality gate like this one? Give me a call or better yet, shoot me an e-mail at:

info [at] greengotech.com (sorry, have to protect my inbox as much as possible from the spambots!)

I can install it for you or sell you the gate and / or hardware for you to install it yourself . . . check out my gates and see what you can expect from a GreenGo Gate!
